The Neftegaz.LIVE project, which presents a network of specialised events for exhibitors and trade visitors, was launched on the sidelines of the Neftegaz 2023 exhibition.

The project is localized in the special area of Hall 3 of Pavilion No.2 of EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds and features an extensive programme of presentations and conferences, covering the most demanded topics in the industry, on which the exhibitors and leading industry experts speak.

The Neftegaz.LIVE programme was opened with the report of Alexey Kalashnikov, Product Manager of Fluid-Line OOO, who told about alternatives to Western shut-off valves for instrumentation in 2023.

The speaker noted, “Over the past year the supply markets have changed a lot and suppliers of shut-off valves for instrumentation and automation, control and measuring instruments for impulse lines and technological pipelines of small diametres are very actively adapting to new realities.”

Then Alexey Kalashnikov made an emphasis on what has become especially urgent now: the possibilities of our own production in Russia and supplies of Asian partners, such as Hy-Lok, which guarantee high quality and a wide range of stop valves. This combination, according to the specialist of Fluid-Line, provides all the solutions potentially demanded by the customers, taking into account the operational requirements for the equipment, as well as the possibility of selecting the purchased products by the price-quality ratio.

The conference on Cable Products and Technology for the Oil and Gas Sector attracted a lot of attention of participants and visitors. Such attention is not accidental because cable products are widely used in production, transportation and processing of hydrocarbon raw materials, and the requirements for them often differ significantly from the requirements for the cables used in communication and telecommunication networks.

The conference is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and supported by Electrocable International Association.

Welcoming the conference participants, the President of the Association, Chair of the Board of NP Electrocable Association, General Director of Elkat OOO Maxim Tretyakov reminded that the Russian cable industry has more than 200 plants, the industry turnover is 418 billion rubles a year, and Electrocable Association unites plants, which by turnover form 75% of the domestic market. “For the last three years we have been living in a new reality," said Maxim Tretyakov, who moderated the discussion. “Now we have not only cable manufacturers, but also cable material producers in our association.”

Various aspects of industrial application of cable products in the oil and gas industry, including innovative character, were touched upon in their speeches by Igor Frolov, Lead Process Engineer at Saranskkabel-Optika OOO, Evgeny Nikonorov, Head of Department for Work with Engineering Companies at Spetskabel OOO, Sergey Snezhko, Marketing Director at Uncomtech Trading House, Valery Babarykin, Head of Technical Competence Department at Incab OOO, Dmitry Ptashinsky, Chair of the Board of Directors at Electrocable Plant AO, and other representatives of the cable industry.

Import substitution was a key topic on the first day of the Neftegaz 2023 exhibition. Many professional discussions as part of the Neftegaz.LIVE events were devoted to it. In particular, RN-Dragmet presented a report on Rosneft Refining Catalysts: Import Substitution in Action.

Company representative Ilya Kurguzov noted that Rosneft is the largest consumer of catalysts in Russia, ranking first by refining volume and capacity. With a design capacity of 120 million tonnes of refining, the company processes more than 90 million tonnes of oil per year on average. Rosneft has been successfully using domestic catalysts for many years, including its own products. New projects implemented by the company in this area include RN-KAT, a joint venture of Bashneft and KNT Group. RN-KAT entered Rosneft’s perimeter in 2020, after which production of catalysts increased significantly. Today, Rosneft ranks first in Russia in import substitution of catalysts; it also got the first foreign preference in India. A hydrocracking catalyst has been produced and tested for the Ufaneftekhim refinery conditions, more than 70% of the company’s units use its own gasoline reforming catalyst, and it also gained unique experience in operating Russia’s most advanced unit for catalyst regeneration at the Novokuybyshevsk plant.

The speaker concluded by summarising that the key components of Rosneft’s successful catalyst business are catalyst manufacturing technologies, existing production that has proven its quality, technical service, and scientific and technical base.

More than four hundred oil and gas industry specialists took part in the events of the first day of the Neftegaz.LIVE programme online and offline.
