Technological development and transformation of fuel and energy complex at National Oil & Gas Forum

Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has opened a plenary session of the National Oil and Gas Forum held along with Neftegaz 2021 at Expocentre Fairgrounds. Stressing the importance of the transformation of the fuel and energy complex, he notes that this sector is one of our country's main sources of income and the social and economic life is developed on its basis. 

Ernesto Ferlenghi, Chairman of the AEB Energy Committee and Steering Group on the AEB Green Initiative, who spoke at the session, reported that CO2 emissions had almost doubled recently. Speaking about the prospects for global oil consumption, he recommended that states should use the extra revenues from high oil prices to invest and develop R&D.

Michael Collins, CEO of Salym Petroleum Development, spoke about the success of his company's cooperation with Gazpromneft and the challenges in introducing new technologies. Speaking about the challenges of working in Russia, he stressed that "every challenge for us is always a new opportunity!”

The development of the industry and the prospects for its transformation were highlighted in a presentation by Yury Shafranik, Chairman of the Council of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia.

Boris Muratov, Vice President of the Industrial Automation Business Unit at Schneider Electric Russia and CIS, made a presentation on technological innovation factors in the context of sustainable development.

Participants of the session substantively discussed the transfer of innovations, growth points for technology companies, ecosystem of cities, technological competitiveness and other relevant topics.
