Participants in the ENERCON 2014 Forum Discussed Key Issues Concerning Development of the Fuel and Energy Sector

The 5th International Forum on Advanced Petrochemical Technologies for Sustainable Industry Development ENERCON 2014 was held at Expocentre. It was the key event of the Neftegaz 2014 International Exhibition programme.

The Forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and Expocentre ZAO. It was supported by the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, State Duma Committee on Energy, and leading industry associations.

Chairman of the Board of the Union of Oil & Gas Producers of Russia Yury Shafranik headed the ENERCON 2014 Program Committee. According to him, the ENERCON Forum as well as the Neftegaz exhibition are major events playing an important role in promoting the latest technologies, scientific achievements, and best practices of the oil and gas industry.

At the Forum distinguished Russian experts from major oil and gas companies, relevant ministries, industry associations, R&D institutes and their foreign colleagues appraised the current state of the oil and gas industry and discussed its further development, in particular Energy Strategy of Russia for the period up to 2035.

Industry specialists showed a keen interest in the issues on :

  • Advanced recovery methods and energy efficiency of oil production;
  • Development of the Russian Arctic shelf;
  • Russia’s hard-to-recover reserves and alternative resources (slate, the Bazhenov formation, the potential and future perspectives for extraction in Russia, the role of the regions, international partnership);
  • Hydrocarbons transportation and pipeline operation.

At the seminar on Industrial Enterprises of the Crimean Federal District: Supplies of Equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry in New Geo-Economical Conditions the industry experts learned about the products manufactured by Crimean enterprises and discussed ways of their integration into the Russian economy. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed its support for Crimean enterprises while Russia’s major oil and gas companies and public organizations expressed their readiness to cooperate with them.

According to the expert appraisal, Russia will hold its position of one the key players on the global energy market up to 2040. It was said that Russia’s fuel and energy sector had never faced such a tough competition as today. Therefore, we should develop and upgrade this industry to meet global challenges.
